Drew is a Werewolf, as such he has certain senses and abilities that differ from your run of the mill human. Coupled with his own worldsetting and he is very openly supernatural. But also because of this Drew's heightened sense of smell (and all of the information that gives him) might mean that he'll be able to tell certain things about your character; in particular if your character is also supernaturally inclined or otherwise less-than-human. Then again he might just smell strange things about your otherwise very human character. I want to make sure I'm not stepping on any toes IC/OOC with Drew's abilities and as such have included a short text-box below for anyone willing to fill it out.

Clearly Drew doesn't have any issue with anyone else finding out he's a werewolf so feel free to point out his own supernatural nature if your character would be able to!

Thanks!

Drew's own permissions

PHYSICAL AFFECTION: Totally a-okay. Even with strangers Drew is okay with casual contact, the light brush of a hand etc. However jumping him and trying to kiss him without so much as a 'hey, how are you?' is probably going to get at least a minor shove. The man is a flirt, though, so it can be expected that he'll try to charm your character and he has a very tactile nature thanks in part to his personality and partly due to the wolf.

PHYSICAL VIOLENCE: Drew tries very hard to be a pacifist, except unlike most endeavours he tries at he isn't very good. Bear in mind, however, that Drew has a tandem human/wolf mentality and as such aggression will be met with aggression and violence with violence. He's not afraid of a scuffle.

RELATIONSHIPS: Drew will easily jump into friendships, he might just as easily jump into romance (its part of the reason he ended up a werewolf to begin with.) However one of the big problems right now will be the fact that Drew has had his pack bond severed and as such he will be craving affection and positive relationships, even if he's wary about them to begin with.

MENTAL INFORMATION: Drew doesn't have any mental training of his own. However its important to note that he has the mindset of a human but also a constant wolf presence in his head. If your character is telepathically natured they'll be able to pick up on both of these, his human thoughts are entirely normal however the wolf is interested mostly in basic instincts and feeling.

MEDICAL INFORMATION: Drew is a werewolf with a healing factor, he can be easily injured, sure, but he also heals incredibly fast unless injured with heavy doses of wolfsbane or some form of silver-based weaponry.

history (for riverview)

World history!

All of the old legends are true.

From the Vampires who found their routes in Eastern Europe to the Werewolves first whispered about in old Germanic countries right through to the witches who started their stories in some of the oldest tales. Everything we thought was the stuff of nightmares, creatures surrounded in mysticism and elements outside of what we considered natural they all existed and they still do.

Naturally, as with all things in the history of humanity these legends couldn’t have existed side-by-side with their less supernatural brothers, paranoia and fear of the unknown have always been important factors in conflict, be it an ancient one or a modern one.

In the beginning these legends lived quietly, part of their own autonomous communities that never sought to interact with mankind, the same way man told stories of the terrifying creatures that came out at night, supernatural creatures shared their own tales of men who came in the night with pitchforks and fire to put an end to their way of life. Tensions were naturally high and disputes broke out between mankind and supernatural creatures all over the world; these disputes spawned the early 15th century witch-hunts we still read about in history today, witch hunts that would span across three centuries until Supernatural creatures were practically extinct.

Or so they’d have us believe.

Mankind weren’t the only ones capable of adapting to new surroundings and supernatural communities across the globe went underground, shedding their old pride in favour of something which may constitute as a future. They still stuck to their own, separated from other supernatural factions while humans scoured the earth, hoping to end the last of them and cut through entire species to meet their aims and instead of mastering warfare these species mastered deception. In that first century they learned to exist outside of the normal world, to maintain close knit communities among themselves, living off the earth in the most secluded territories so that they may rebuild their families and repopulate these communities.

The second century was when they slowly learned integration through painstaking effort. Not just among the humans but among other supernatural creatures. Witches learned spells to shield vampires from the sunlight, the Werewolves used their true forms to protect territories from the wild at night, Vampires themselves used the restorative nature of their magically infused blood to heal those who did stumble too close to an angry hunter. It was a slow process and these three clans were among the first to put it into motion. Of course, they knew other species existed out there as well, those who’d had their numbers too thoroughly mowed down or who’d always lived apart from them, such as the merfolk. Or even those who had the power to stay separate from the beginning, too enchanting to be considered dangerous by mankind and instead were turned into the kind of story you’d tell your children such as the Faeries of Ireland. They would come in time, too and join this supernatural union.

Eventually though, these creatures started to experience longing, desires, to no longer be part of this hidden network of people, to live life to the fullest the way they’d had at the genesis of their kind. At first it started disputes once more among their own people, with the older generations remembering all too well how humans had burned through their people like plague. Eventually though, the urge became too strong… through this, in the early 1900’s the Supernatural Rights Movement was born, gathering the kind of steam that, when backed with the power of the supernaturals that mankind had forgotten all too quickly, became an inevitable tide that would change the course of life for both mankind and the supernatural.

The first steps they took were huge, the biggest of all of those being the supernaturals unveiling themselves to the human world. It was obviously the most important step of all, a harsh reminder that the three century hunt had failed and all humanity had managed to do was drive these beings underground. With this came an unveiling of their capabilities, thanks to banding together underground supernatural beings had a harmony amongst each other and with it a way of life. They stood as a united front and their combined powers were too great to be simply ignored and brushed under the carpet; humanity could've rekindled their hunts had they been better prepared but the world wasn't ready and the Supernatural Rights Movement had too high a visibility to simply be eradicated.

Along with a show of their power they evoked sympathetic feelings among human factions worldwide, peacekeepers who wanted to help cultivate the future alongside them and this was the door they needed into the new world. Countries were forced to grant citizenship to supernatural creatures who could trace their lineages back to a time far back enough in history that no government would have the right to deny them access. It was a slow process, spanning the course of ten years wherein humanity had to acknowledge the fact that some of these factions and families were ancient and together they held the kind of power that couldn't be denied. Once acknowledgement and citizenship were decided upon the ball really got rolling. Entire countries were forced to give reparations to the subjugated masses of the three century hunt and supernatural creatures were granted land worldwide, with some countries managing the processes faster than others yet all of them pooling together and cultivating the Universal Declaration of Individual Rights which gave status and liberties to all of earth's inhabitants regardless of backgrounds within twenty years from The Unveiling.

The supernatural factions were able to draw from their own knowledge of 20th century humanity and formed a unified political party based on the desires of those who fought toward the SRM twenty years prior and these political parties stood as coalition governments alongside majority parties of each individual country, finally confirming their place within modern society. Each governing body started to develop individual divisions of the government to care after and maintain the welfare of supernatural beings with specific policies in place to manage the needs of their citizens.

Integration came slowly and then all at once when these peace treaties and accords were made between all; gone were the old communities of supernaturals hiding in the darkness of night, instead they became regular citizens and with the governments having expanded to take these things into account all of the characters of fables just became, well, regular with extra skills or strange quirks. There were vampires working night clubs, werewolves teaching children and witches working in hospitals and all the shades of ‘monster’ in between.

Old prejudices might still run deep among old clans but the world is slowly working to piece its way back together toward a brighter future for all species, regardless of their natural or supernatural genesis...

In the modern day, things have cooled down enough that the supernatural/natural divide is no longer the scourge it had been in the 15th century. Instead, supernatural creatures lived side by side with humanity, co-existing in a way that couldn’t have been imagined in their past. Of course, there were still the kinds of groups that fought against this relatively peaceful union; after all the combined powers of some of the oldest fables in the world became a little too overwhelming to consider fighting and it was only thanks to the dream those supernaturals held dear that the entire thing didn’t end in systematic bloodshed. The creatures of old were too invested in a bright and hopeful future to see it overthrown by violence and the scars of their own subjugation ran too deep to see themselves become the monsters humanity believed them to be.

Supernatural creatures have fully integrated into ‘normal’ life and over the last century have learned to work alongside their less gifted cousins in a way that has enriched both cultures rather than hindering either side.

Personal History:

Pre-Bite

Andrew, or Drew as he'd rather you called him, lives a pretty normal life... If you're not putting it under a lot of scrutiny that is. His story is one of averages; he came from an average home with two normal parents in Texas. It was a typically white protestant upbringing and he ended up being a mostly typical young man. He did all the right things, stayed in school, played on the football team. He just never really tried that hard. He was more of a dancing through life kind of guy; taking everything as it came and never planning out the big things. The most interesting thing to happen to him in high school was probably finding out he was gay. It wasn't one of those lightning-strikes kind of moments and more a couple of quick and desperate experimental run-ins in the locker room; it was enough for him to realize what he wanted, especially after trying the same things with a few girls around town. He never bothered to come out, per se, but he never hid in the closet either. Anyone who asked got a straight answer, including his mom so that was his story. It didn't exactly scream novel and that was the way he liked it.

He was the kind of guy that preferred a night at a kegger than a night hitting the books, but he wasn't a high school dropout either. Hell, he even made it all the way to community college; his sister had already done the whole big college experience thing and she was on her road to becoming a doctor. That was good enough for the parents, so he never urged himself to following in her over-achieving footsteps.

The thing was, even in the wake of the SRM Andrew’s family were human and as human as they came, there were no skeletons in their closets, no cousin or distant relative who happened to be a were, a vampire or a witch. Their knowledge of supernatural creatures and their customs was practically non-existent and they preferred their ignorance to working towards knowledge. Drew himself, born in the late ‘80s was instead fascinated by them, breaking the mould his family had worked to forming. He kept this a secret though, reading books, making friends in school with supernatural creatures and never bringing them home to mom and dad.

It wasn’t like he was completely obsessed with them or anything, it was just that they were different and in a world that he viewed as completely mundane it was easy to get caught up in the differences between their species as an interest. Which is probably how his path ended up taking the road it eventually did…

Post-Bite
After high school it was natural progression for Drew to go to college, as far as his parents were concerned he was studying towards becoming an accountant. Instead, he started a course on Supernatural Relations; the workings behind the politics of the 21st century and how supernatural creatures fit into their fought-for place in the world.

College was a good place for him, he got a job working in one of the local bars, pulling maybe a few too many shifts so that he could afford to live in his shitty apartment and cycle to work. But he loved his job, maybe a little bit too much considering it quickly started affecting his studies, he felt like he was getting the real world interaction with supernatural creatures that he craved a little more than actually studying them, considering the diver bar he served at was known for being a very supernaturally orientated watering hole, especially among the weres.

It was during his time there he found his boyfriend at the time Javier, a werewolf, and fell quickly in love in the kind of way that tended to happen when it was your first non-fling. It seemed too good to be true, they both starting living together in the same shitty apartment, both working similar jobs to make ends meet while Javier taught him more about werewolf culture and how they lived among packs, things Drew was slowly getting first-hand experience with rather than just reading about the procedure in some textbook. They were stupid and young, caught up in a whirlwind romance that moved a little too fast, especially when talk came around about Javier giving Drew the bite, changing that fascination for supernatural creatures into a real-world living experience. Drew was sold instantly, that childhood fascination carrying him to this decision, he thought taking Javier's bite was a good thing, he wanted to be just as special, didn't he? It was the first above-average thing he could've done so along with his new skill set he sported a rather delicate yet large scar on his ass, pre-planning worked pretty well that way, even if it was just about the stupidest place he could’ve gone for, it was meant to reduce the pain, less chance of tearing a muscle or an artery if it went wrong.

It was meant to be a dream come true, spending their lives together as equal; it just... it didn't work out that way. Sure he loved learning what it was to be a werewolf, turning into a massive wolf and running around your local forest? What wasn't there to enjoy? The huge problem, however, was that the more he fell in love with being a werewolf and existing within the supernatural sphere of life... the less he loved Javier. It was a bit wild, the way he wasn't so much in control any more, the part of him that was meant to be in love just wasn't in love, he wanted to be wild like the wolf and Javier... he'd become a constraint and two werewolves living under one roof wasn't the whole loving pack he'd wanted. Instead it was a lot of snapping, snarling and their little problems being blown out of proportion by high tensions. So he did the smart thing, or what he wanted to see as the smart thing and he left. Not just Javier, but his course at the college and his job. He figured that the studies were no longer important, that getting a job working with the politics of the SRM no longer mattered when he’d finally become a member of that world.

He found a new town, a new supernaturally inclined bar and started working full time. Told his parents he just needed some time one of those bullshit excuses all young people make when they've decided to throw their lives out the window; they had no idea he’d become a werewolf, he’d stopped visiting, stopped calling, was breaking away from that old stiff background in a way he’d never thought imaginable. It helped that if they knew, they’d be disgusted that he decided to flip allegiances from their old ways. He just wanted free of all those constraints, hell, the man would go live on a mountain if he could but he enjoyed the buzz of other people too much, of his customers... especially those of whom he took home at the end of a hard shift, those people who bought him drinks at least, it was just the way he dealt with things.

He went out more, found some friends. Those special kinds of friends like him and before he knew it he was in a pack of like-minded free spirits. As far as his parents were concerned he was just a stoner drop out, but his pack? They were more family than he ever needed and for the first time in a long time his life wasn't so average... it was brilliant and he’s spent the last six years having the time of his life.

Drew is the human embodiment of a puppy.

Joking aside, he’s your typical nice guy. As a kid he strived more toward socializing than studying and would’ve been considered quite popular right through high school, despite some discrepancies in his identity versus his upbringing he was incredibly comfortable in himself as a young man and lived a happy life. His main personality trait definitely would’ve been his curiosity, seen in the way he strived to learn more about the supernatural world after being born into a generation that was beginning to familiarize itself with these things after the establishing of the SRM.

Aside from his curiosity, however, he isn’t incredibly focused. He jumps from objective to objective, rarely completing one task before starting another which is why his life as a bartender suits him well; he’s able to work an easy and casual job without taking away from his personal life and projects.

He likes spending time outside thanks to both seeking adventure out in the world in his youth and his new werewolf characteristics and feels just as at home in a forest as he does in his apartment.

He’s incredibly loyal, however his loyalty could be considered fragile; for example he would never betray his pack or a loved one but he picks and chooses who he remains loyal too. He’s a flirt and likes to consider himself particularly charming, mostly in his working life, and has absolutely no problem striking up a conversation with a stranger or involving himself in things that some people would shy away from thanks to being typically outgoing. He’s funny and nice, the perfect archetype for the life of the party; the only downside being that he might be a great talker but not always the perfect listener.

On the other hand, Drew has some negative qualities which would be suited much more to a wild dog than a tame puppy. He’s quick to anger, something common among werewolves in his world, being known to go from irritated to snapping snarling rage mid-argument but it’s a fleeting kind of anger that burns brightly yet flares out just as quick, which is why he tries to keep a cool head at all times when he can.

He’s also a bit of a slob, be it from living so casually or being in a pack of practically hippy werewolves, cleaning up the house is never on the top of his to do list until it reaches a stage where it strictly needs to be done. You could call him lazy in that way, even if he’s hard-working in the actual work place.

As is obvious, he has no problem with being a quitter, having dropped out of college and turned away from a significant relationship without so much as a second thought.
Lastly, he could be considered a touch scatterbrained when thinking about his lack of organization and concentration, he’s often late to work or a social occasion but apologizes earnestly for it and tries his best to make up for it in any way that he can.

In terms of his pack, Drew is the perfect Beta. He’s not entirely submissive but at the same time he takes pleasure out of making other people’s days better. The same could be said about his interactions with patrons of the bar. He lives to see happiness and if he can make that happiness happen himself then it’s a good day.

He thrives on positivity which was one of the reasons he was so keen on leaving Javier, he just can’t co-exist easily in a negative environment and would much rather be striving to solve problems among people that aren’t this way inclined. He’s much more comfortable around a pack member or at least a friendly face than he is alone, because he’s unable to muster up the kind of positive and social energy he craves while sitting alone in his apartment. As with most pack-inclined weres he’s incredibly tactile in a way that he barely notices he’s doing it anymore, casually hugging or patting the arm of even strangers as a way to appear friendly.

As with all werewolves, however, Drew suffers from certain personality quirks around the time of the full moon. These include irritability, lack of impulse control, feeling on edge, inability to sleep or sit still for long periods of time and also comes with a lessened control over his werewolf abilities; werewolves can be known to perform partial shifts on the day of the full moon and find it difficult to keep themselves ‘in check’ and having a hard time to keep a grasp on their emotions, often leading to sensitivity or mood swings. The Werewolf division of supernatural government bodies often give out drugs to help maintain these symptoms around the time of the full moon to make life easier for weres.

Abilities/Skills:

Werewolf

Due to the fact that the lycanthropic curse is supernatural in nature, Werewolves benefit from certain supernatural abilities.
Shapeshifting: Werewolves are able to shapeshift into the form of wolves. These wolves aren’t like natural wolves, however, to accommodate for the fact that they start at human size. Werewolf shapes may vary and Drew’s form stands at five feet meaning in wolf form he’d be around the height of an average person’s torso. Drew’s own form is a wolf with dark brown fur and glowing blue eyes. In the wolf form Werewolf senses and powers are heightened and their bite is capable of transferring the lycanthropic curse. They are in control of themselves during the shift however are more likely to give over to the wolf’s nature. Werewolves can only shift themselves and do not maintain any of their possessions during the shift. Werewolves may shift at any time, however the shift is a requirement on the three nights of the full moon regardless of whether or not they want to and is painful to resist. Werewolves can also maintain a partial shift, which comes easiest when there’s no full moon wherein they are able to form claws and fangs with supernaturally glowing eyes but they do not grow fur or change size/shape in any notable fashion.

Enhanced Senses and Abilities: Regardless of their form Werewolves have all five of their senses heightened, the most active of these though tends to be their sense of smell which can be used to gather information, identify others and also get a sense of emotions. Their hearing and eyesight is also enhanced to much higher than that of a normal human however Werewolves need to focus to take full advantage of these abilities and they come easier with practice. They do, however, sometimes suffer control issues among the young and these senses can be overwhelming. Along with heightened senses Werewolf abilities are above that of a normal human, they’re both incredibly fast and strong in both shifts, however they would be at their fastest and strongest as a true wolf. Werewolves could easily outrun your average human by a long shot and benefit from heightened reflexes thanks to an amalgamation of these gifts.

Healing Factor: Werewolves possess a healing factor thanks to the rapid regeneration of their cells, coupled with a heightened metabolism. They can heal all non-fatal wounds rapidly depending on the injury, for example cutting themselves while cooking may only take a few seconds to heal whereas a bullet wound could take several hours. Thanks to this rapid regeneration however, werewolves cannot get sick or contract diseases. They also cannot get drunk or partake of most drugs. However Werewolf divisions of their government have synthesised an aconite based marijuana to help werewolves at the time of the full moon to avoid moon sickness symptoms discussed earlier.

These powers do come with their weaknesses, however and werewolves are not immortal despite an elongated lifespan. Weaknesses and methods of killing werewolves are as follows:
Silver: Silver is fatal to werewolves and as such weapons made from this material are the most effective way to kill one. Silver chains can incapacitate a werewolf and also silver jewellery would cause them irritation- if one were to place an article of silver against a Werewolf’s flesh they would start to develop a rash which would eventually lead into a burn. Most effective methods of killing a werewolf with silver-based weaponry would be decapitation, abdominal bisection, or running them through the heart.

Aconite/Wolfsbane/Monkshood: Wolfsbane is a poison and also a sedative/incapacitant/hallucinogen to werewolves when ingested in high quantities, for example lacing their food and drink with it every day would eventually weaken and kill them. A weapon laced with concentrated wolfs bane would be inevitably fatal to a werewolf particularly once it has entered their bloodstream. Werewolves poisoned with wolfsbane would have a hard time controlling their powers and themselves.

He's also a very good bartender and professional stoner.

[A bright and positive face pops up on the device, smiling cheerfully as he figures out if he's doing this thing right. He pokes the thing a couple of times, mostly because his own cell phone was a piece of crap back home so intergalactic communication devices weren't exactly his thing. When he's pretty convinced its broadcasting he waves at the screen.] Uh... hey? [He chuckles slightly nervously.] No idea who I'm talkin' to... I guess everyone? [The nervousness is gone in a flash and he grins widely.] Anyway, name's Drew, I'm kinda new here. Kinda new, fuck I'm really new, I just got here.

[The background behind him changes as he moves to throw himself on his bed.] I'm startin' out with this whole spaceman gig and I just wanted everyone to sorta see my face. [He flashes another grin full of teeth before shaking his head.] Didn't mean to sound so damn conceited, I meant if any of y'all see me around, go on ahead and holler... I don't bite. [He quirks one eyebrow.] Not unless you ask nicely and everythin'.

[He shrugs.] Anyway, I'm out... gonna go look at some stars an' shit again. But like I said, names Drew, catch y'all later. [And there's a couple minutes of silence and furrowed brows as he figured out how to turn the device off again.]

☾ MoM Permissions

World History

____

Personal History
