That's fuckin' weird... I mean Tyler should hopefully be able to see through it if y'can't smell it or nothin' he'll know it ain't real. That's uh, fuckin' weird. [He's repeating himself but those are his thoughts on the matter.]

Why would I tell people what I am? It violates the Masquerade, first of all-- If anyone else from my world showed up and knew I told people, I'd be in deeper shit than I already am. And I'm a medbay tech; my job is to find weird food for people who can't eat with normal means. The ship's been providing me blood packs.

[ Don't ask who's donating the blood. She doesn't want to know, and she's been rationing accordingly. ]

If I tell people, then everyone's just going to be afraid. People will probably try to drag me out into the sunlight on some planet and kill me. I can't risk that.

[He listens to her words and a lot of them don't translate easily.] I mean, y'can totally be an out an' proud vampire here. Ty, he told the whole ship he was a werewolf after bein' here for less than a week! [Which isn't the best thing to do in Drew's eyes but it did show the lack of discrimination at the very least.] Glad they're doin' somethin' for ya. That would suck if y'had to figure it out for yourself. Shame they didn't arrange me gettin' my stipend but I've got someone workin' on that anyway.

[He can't help but sound a little dejected by her secrecy though.] Well y'gotta do what y'gotta do. But I'm pretty sure no-ones gonna drag you out to some kinda sunshine planet.

[ She lets out a slow exhale of breath. ]

You trust people too much.

[ She says it almost enviously, frankly. Ava would like to put her trust in people...but not so easily. Not so soon. ]

I'm glad no one's tried to hurt your friend or you so far, but that doesn't mean something couldn't happen. You look normal. You can walk around whenever. I have to pretend I'm a night owl and never eat around people.

[He chuckles.] Guess I've been told that a couple times, but like I said when we first met, I come from a totally different place- guess its one of those things.

[He chuckles slightly at that.] I guess you're right, they ain't tried yet- but uh, guess I'll be the one to deal with that if it happens. Tyler... I ain't gonna let anyone hurt him.

[He stops to explain the stipend though.] Stipend? Government thing... its a special kinda pot, helps with the transformation. Cut with somethin' special to make it hit werewolves just as hard as it does humans. [He wasn't about to say that it was cut with wolfsbane, not when that could kill him, he didn't need to expose any weaknesses.]
